Psychedelic illustrations, trippy animations, and a mixed-medium filmography are highlight features in the new music video by Cape Townian indie-retro rock band The Plastics. The video, which accompanies their single Sunscream, comes almost nine months since the release of their album In Threes.

Sunscream features the four band members, Pascal, Kharl, Sasha and Emilio, playing their instruments individually, while being consumed and surrounded by trippy, animated illustrations.

The colourful, pop-art, illustrations do justice to the song’s “groovy,” melodic tune. The Plastics are no strangers to adding artistic flare to their music videos, and gained a reputation for quirky cinematography with the video for Best Pretenders. As indie innovators, they are always coming up with novel ways to entertain their fans.

The Plastics began paving their way into the South African music scene in 2008, and have since played at festivals such as Rocking The Daisies and OppiKoppi with much success. They were even nominated for a SAMA Award.

If you haven’t yet listened to their laid-back, lazy-Sunday jams, then make sure to click through and watch their latest Sunscream video hero.
