smartphone users.\u00a0The app delivers the day\u2019s most important news highlights in Afrikaans, which are\u00a0selected by an expert editorial team, 24.com said in a statement.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The app further offers push alert notifications while users can log in via their Facebook accounts.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of content, the app offers an aggregation of important news and \u201cfocuses on giving users as much information as possible in a simplified manner\u201d, 24.com said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNetNuus fills the gap for a quick and consumer friendly news app in Afrikaans that will give users instant and up to date information and the opportunity to engage with the news,\u201d said 24.com product editor MJ Lourens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot everyone is interested in lengthy analysis on the Guptas but they do want to know if they are back in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis app is perfect for these users who want their news delivered in digestible bites \u2013 quickly and accurately,\u201d added Lourens.<\/p>\n<p>Lourens said the app further provides advertisers with access to \u201cAfrikaans speaking news junkies\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlus it gives advertisers access to Afrikaans speaking news junkies \u2013 people who are actively interested the latest information in news, sports and business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Explaining the technology behind the app, 24.com\u2019s mobile solutions architect, Michael Hancock, said his development team was\u00a0among the first in South Africa to use Facebook\u2019s React Native.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook turned its React Native tool into an open source project last year for Apple iOS and Android devices.<\/p>\n<p>The software is intended to speed up the process of making sophisticated native smartphone applications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile developing the NetNuus application, we wanted to try out something new that we have never done before,\u201d said Hancock.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe used Facebook\u2019s React Native tech to build a cross-platform app for Android and iOS that is quick, seamless and a great user experience\u201d added Hancock.<\/p>\n<p>NetNuus is available for download
