Despite popular belief, anxiety disorders are not the same as feeling anxious. This disorder is a severe mental illness that causes a constant and overwhelming worry that leads to distress that hinders the ability to live an ordinary life.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nPanic disorders, social anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety disorder are common anxiety disorders among students. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sadag.org\/\">SA Depression and Anxiety Group<\/a> listed the following factors as contributors to student depression and anxiety: financial and other forms of stress, drugs, smoking, unsafe sex and bullying.<\/p>\n<p><strong>General symptoms of anxiety disorders:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Feeling of panic, fear and uneasiness<br \/>\n\u2022 Insomnia<br \/>\n\u2022 Shortness of breath<br \/>\n\u2022 Heart palpitations<br \/>\n\u2022 Sweaty hands or feet<br \/>\n\u2022 Restlessness<br \/>\n\u2022 Nausea<br \/>\n\u2022 Dizziness<br \/>\n\u2022 Muscle Tension<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coping mechanism for anxiety disorders:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Eat healthy meals<br \/>\n\u2022 Get enough sleep<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintain a positive attitude<br \/>\n\u2022 Talk to someone<br \/>\n\u2022 Learns what triggers your anxiety<br \/>\n\u2022 Exercise<br \/>\n\u2022 Take a time-out<br \/>\n\u2022 Take deep breaths<\/p>\n<p>The exact cause of anxiety disorders are unknown but learning what triggers your anxiety helps you choose coping mechanisms that works best for you.<\/p>\n<p>Written by Shanrade&#8217; Mc Kerry<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Feeling anxious is a common emotion when facing problems or before writing an important exam.
