Student News Grid interviewed Njoko to find out more about The Man in Me.

What inspired you to write The Man in Me?
Njoko’s inspiration to write The Man in Me came from his negative life experiences. He said that “I wrote The Man In Me book to make it easy for other men to find information which I have learned in a very harsh way. They should read this book and become ambassadors for social change.”

Who can benefit from reading your book?
Njoko said that the main target audience of The Man in Me is young men. He explained that “in Zulu they say, ‘Lugotshwa lusemanzi’ meaning that if you want to change something in the society, target young people because their minds are still willing to take something new unlike elders.”However The Man in Me is not limited to men as Njoko also mentioned how women could benefit from reading this book. He said that the book also speaks to women “as it teaches them how a man is changing and how they can help their sons, husbands, uncles, fathers and brothers not to fall into the same trap of men failing to take full responsibility of their actions.”

What is the message that you are sending to societies through your book?
Njoko explained that The Man in Me is shows the importance of being a responsible man and building a family. Njoko believes that, “if we want a strong nation with solid values and morals, we must invest more in families and do what we must to correct a man first back to his position which he has shifted from because of some influences”.

Mr Njoko is working in more books and has finished writing another book titled It has nothing to do with life. In September Njoko will be launching The Man in Me in Johannesburg.
