The UP literary society The Inklings is accepting submissions to the next issue of the Inclinations , their annual collection of student writing. Submissions for poetry and short prose can be sent to The Inklings and close on 31 August.
The Inklings chairperson Ryan Naamdhew explains that the first issue of the Inclinations was
published in 1989 after The Inklings, which was named after the famous Oxford literary
group, was established in 1982 and registered in 1985. The yearly collection of student
writing is “a showcase of the incredible writing talents of our members”. Naamdhew explains
that “while the society has blossomed into one supporting and celebrating art, music, and
theatre, The Inclinations reflects our literary roots”. The collection is published late in the
second semester, as the society explains it “is a project that reflects the love our members
have for writing, and encompasses what our society is trying to achieve: encouraging more
people to write and share their thoughts, and their emotions”.
Submissions are open to all, and students are encouraged to share their writing. Naamdhew
says “everyone has something meaningful to say and we hope that the Inclinations provides
that platform”. Submissions to the Inclinations can be sent to thinklings.tuks@gmail.com
