Wins for IMPI, Madibaz, UWC and CPUT in the FNB Varsity Shield round 2 matches that were played over two days (February 20 and 21) last week.
UKZN 33 – 12 WSU
It was quite the first 20 minutes in the match between FNB UKZN and the all-blacks with no team recording any points. The second half was more adventurous, as France bagged his third and fourth penalties with All Blacks getting in two tries in between the two. UKZN continued to dominate from then on and the final nail was struck with a home team try taking the final score to 33-12.

Madibaz 32 – 16 UFH
Madibaz bounced back from their opening round defeat to Varsity College with a convincing 32-16 win against UFH at Madibaz Stadium. flyhalf Raashied Conrad put the Gqeberha side in front with a penalty around the 10-minute mark but seconds later UFH hooker Bunono Jamani crashed over the whitewash for the visitors’ only five-pointer, duly converted by Sinalo Jivana. Both teams continued scoring but The result was put beyond doubt when replacement back Bukho Pantsi ran in for a try after a brilliant line break by Sean Van Zijl.

The mouth-watering clash between Varsity College and FNB UWC in Durban was exactly what everyone was waiting for, and it was delivered. There were tries galore throughout the first half and UWC led by an incredible nine tries, 33-24 at the break. The final 20 minutes were as encapsulating with Varsity College receiving their third yellow card which allowed the away team to extend their lead to 40-31 and take all the points.

In a dramatic finish at Suzuki Park in Kimberley, CPUT edged out SPU 22-20 in their Varsity Shield encounter, with a last-minute try sealing the win. SPU struggled with discipline, conceding multiple penalties, but managed to get on the board before halftime. While both teams went hard and scored regularly in the second half, it was CPUT who celebrated a hard-fought win, proving their resilience in a nail-biting encounter.
