If you are looking for a dessert that is unapologetically indulgent, outrageously delicious, and just a little bit scandalous, look no further than sl*tty brownies. They are the triple threat of the dessert world: chocolate chip cookie dough on the bottom, Oreos in the middle, and rich brownie batter on top. Gooey with chocolate and layered with reckless abandon, they are sweet, sinful, and just the right amount of naughty.

Recipe (makes 16 servings)

Cookie Dough Layer

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1.5 cups granulated brown sugar
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups cake flour
1.5 cups chocolate chips or finely chopped pieces of chocolate
Oreo Layer

20 – 25 Oreos
Brownie Layer

3/4 cup unsalted butter
110g chocolate, roughly chopped
1 cup granulated brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup cake flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 tsp salt
Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a medium-sized, rectangular baking tray with baking paper that extends beyond the sides of the pan. Spray the paper with cooking spray and set aside.
To make your cookie dough, cream your butter and sugar together until smooth. Add in the egg and the yolk, beating well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract. Lastly, add the salt and flour and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand.
Spoon the dough into the pan and press into an even layer. Add your Oreos and make sure they are stuck in the cookie dough to avoid rising while baking.
For the brownie layer, melt the butter and chopped chocolate bar in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir until fully melted, and then remove from the heat and allow it to cool for 5 minutes. Once cool, stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Lastly, mix in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
Pour the batter evenly over the Oreo and cookie layers, covering them completely. Bake for 30 – 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the centre comes out clean. Allow it to cool before cutting.
What you should end up with is a rich, decadent, three-layer brownie that can be enjoyed on its own or with a big spoon of ice cream. Here is to indulging without shame because life is too short for boring brownies.
