Let’s face it: 2020 has been a bumpy ride! The world has been turned upside-down and will forever be changed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. But, here at Tuks FM, we believe that ‘when life gives you lemons… [insert tequila/lemonade proverb here].
So, we’re taking the chaos that has been 2020 and are turning it around to end the year off with a massive bang before we head into 2021. How will we do this? We’re sending a dream to space, literally! And, in so doing, we’re not only positively impacting our community, but also becoming the first radio station to have a simulcast on the International Space Station (ISS). This simulcast will feature an audio message from 10-year-old Bontle Seakamela, who will take one step closer to her dream of one day being able to go to space. Her wish will be played on the ISS as it moves over Africa while simultaneously airing on Tuks FM. Bontle’s dream of going to space will go out in space! This month-long campaign will also feature educational content in collaboration with NASA and SANSA (the South African National Space Agency).
Mike Bower, Tuks FM’s Programme Manager, has all the detail on this innovative campaign:
