Shimlas 26 v UJ 27
The FNB Varsity Cup clash between Shimlas and UJ ended in high drama, with the Shimlas believing they had won 26-25 before the visitors were awarded the result in their favour 27-26.

The confusion stemmed from a 44th-minute try, by Siphiwe Mazibuko, which was initially awarded as a point-of-origin try, then changed to a ‘normal’ five-pointer moments later. Only, when UJ team management insisted, post-match, that the refeeres review video footage was it reclassified as a point-of-origin try which accounts for the two-point discrepancy. Shimlas have disputed this process, suggesting a change of score via video review lies with the SA Rugby Referees office.

The win sees Maties move to the top of the log.
